Micci and Devon - 1,000,000 Words Worth

Rain on your wedding day? Infamously noted as ironic by Alanis, and for three weekends in September it's been a reality. Although all three days we were still able to get photos outside thanks to our flexible and amazing brides and grooms (with a big help from their families.) Ashley and I can not thank all of you enough for allowing us to do our job to the best of our abilities, even in trying times on your big day. And also for having the drive to make sure that you get the best wedding photos possible with or without rain, lightning, and cool temps.

This weekend was no different. Micci and Devon were married at Prairie Moon Winery near Ames, IA. The weather was not ideal and it rained pretty much all morning. Micci and Devon planned an outdoor ceremony in front of the beautiful vineyards, but the rain had been too heavy all day and created a wet and sloppy mess, to say the least. It was a tough decision, but they had to eventually move the ceremony inside the reception area. The good news was the reception area was beautiful as well. As wedding photographers we have to go with the flow. We have to game plan, decide, and improvise as things change.

After the ceremony we were able to get outside and get some photos with family and the wedding party before running off with just the two of them. Prairie Moon Winery provides some great back drops. We used all that we could given the wet grounds and got some great shots. A rainy wedding day turned into a beautiful marriage. Congratulations to Micci and Devon! 100 photos x 1,000 words = 1,000,000 words worth of photos!
